Hypnotherapy is simply the use of hypnosis to enable you to take control of feelings, behaviours, habits, and self-image. It seems most people feel as if they and their problems are unique among human experience.

While our experiences make each of us unique, what we feel, how we respond to the world around us, and how we interact with other people is not unique. We all have the same senses.

The way we deal with this life is greatly variable, but only within certain parameter. There are boundaries to human experience and behaviour. Your feelings, thoughts, behaviours, and problems aren't as strange or unusual as you might think.

People don't tell others about their fears, doubts, worries, anxieties, or things they think are strange about themselves. Whatever your difficulty in life might be, it isn't as strange or unusual as you think.

Hypnotherapy, of course, uses the mental tool of hypnosis. Many people have seen too many movies or television shows where a writer needed a magical solution to a plot problem and used that mystical power of hypnosis to solve his problem.

Hypnosis is usually induced by the use of the therapist's voice, though you are unlikely to actually feel hypnotised. There is no such thing as a 'hypnotised feeling', though many people find their senses to be far more alert than usual - you will certainly not 'lose control' at any time, nor can you be manipulated in any way.

Hypnosis, a totally natural phenomenon, is simply a very comfortable and relaxed state during which it is quite easy to converse sensibly with the therapist, although not all styles of hypnotherapy employ this technique. And here is something that may surprise you - whilst almost anybody can enter the state of hypnosis; the strongest minds do it best! To be unhypnotisable is an indicator of some sort of difficulty with focussing the mental processes and is actually extremely rare.

Hypnosis is NOT mystical or magical in any way. It is a very effective mental tool that enables people to take control of things that may have seemed beyond their control in the past.

There is no form of unconsciousness and nobody can be made to do anything that they do not want to do; a person in hypnosis is aware of everything happening around them, aware of themselves and their therapist, and will normally retain a full and accurate memory of everything afterwards.

Acupuncture

Hypnosis is a completely natural, yet different, state of consciousness from the normal waking state. When a person is in the state of hypnosis they are completely awake and alert. They know exactly what is happening at all times. You cannot be controlled by someone using hypnosis. While under hypnosis, your awareness is actually heightened and carefully focus You become very receptive to positive suggestions that are acceptable to you, and are able to learn from the artificial experiences perceived in the hypnotic state.

"What about those stage shows where they make people do all those ridiculous things?"

They don't MAKE anyone do anything!

These people are volunteers. They want to be foolish and playful on stage and not be responsible for their behaviour. They are having fun. None of them will ever do anything they don't want to do under hypnosis. No one ever does.

A person under hypnosis is only doing what they want to do.

A well-trained and experienced therapist can use the artificial experiences perceived under hypnosis to desensitise a client's fears, improve their self-image, or gain other behavioural or emotional goals. Goal achievement is an area of human behaviour where this tool of hypnosis is very helpful.

Other areas include overcoming fears, improving sports, performance, stress control and relaxation, elimination of habits, gaining self confidence, sexual dysfunction, and success motivation. Basically, if a feeling or behaviour in your life is undesirable to you, in most cases hypnotherapy can be of value.

The real goal in most cases is for the client to learn effective mental dynamics and take control of his life. There are no easy fixes.

There is no magic or effortless cure for your problems, but with a little knowledge, a little effort, and personal responsibility you can make your life what you want it to be.

Acupuncture

Take control and get what you desire from it. Hypnotherapy has been approved for use by the British Medical Association for more than 40 years. It's a form of therapy which enables you to enlist the help of your conscious and unconscious/subconscious mind. The emphasis is goal orientated, and allows you to focus your attention internally, re accessing resources, and creating new associations, patterns of thinking and behaving. How hypnosis/ hypnotherapy helps with quitting smoking Increases confidence and determination Shifts perspective - so stopping smoking feels like a positive challenge rather than a chore Finding more appropriate ways to relax and unwind Lowering levels of anxiety and removing fears and doubts Increasing focus Shifts inaccurate beliefs surrounding smoking i.e. the belief that smoking helps with relaxation For many people, hypnosis has proved to be the best and easiest way to quit smoking, quite often with just a single session - in fact, an article in the New Scientist, in 2003, stated categorically that hypnosis is the most effective way to quit. A frequent comment is that there is just no urge to smoke after the 'stop smoking hypnosis' session and this happy circumstance seems to be sustained for the vast majority of individuals. It is likely that you will need a one-to-one session with a therapist.

Online Hypnosis Of all the methods of therapy that are available today, there are few that can be used online as effectively as hypnosis. Online hypnosis can help with an amazing number of difficulties, including fears, phobias and anxieties of all sorts and such problems as social phobia, communication difficulties and problems with meeting the opposite sex. You can even have online hypnosis to help you pass a driving test; go confidently into the dentist's chair, for example, or to help you jet off on holiday without a care in the world! Hypnotherapy and anxiety There is probably no finer way to permanently reduce anxiety than with hypnotherapy. It was discovered in the 19th century that hypnotherapy could reduce anxiety effectively and even though there are now powerful and effective medications, hypnosis and hypnotherapy remains the first choice for many people suffering from anxiety. Weight loss hypnosis Weight loss, (more correctly, weight control) using hypnosis can be astonishingly effective. Whilst is it usually necessary to make some modification to diet and exercise, this can take only a fraction of the will-power that might otherwise be needed. Weight loss hypnosis is not magic and whatever anybody tells you, you will need to do some of the work yourself... but if you want the easiest way to trim down, this could be it! For many people, hypnosis has proved to be the best and easiest way to quit smoking, quite often with just a single session - in fact, an article in the New Scientist, in 2003, stated categorically that hypnosis is the most effective way to quit. A frequent comment is that there is just no urge to smoke after the 'stop smoking hypnosis' session and this happy circumstance seems to be sustained for the vast majority of individuals. The Therapy
Hypnosis itself is unlikely to provide a relief of symptoms, whatever those symptoms might be. It is the therapy - hypno therapy - which is carried out within the hypnotised state that is important. It takes two entirely different forms.

Suggestion Therapy
This form of treatment is ideal for helping to cope with such things as examination fears, driving test nerves, smoking, nail-biting, some weight-control problems, stress, and so on. Usually, between two and four sessions are needed and some therapists will work with 2 or more people at one time, often reducing costs.

Analytical Therapy
This is sometimes used for more deep-rooted problems. The technique aims to find and remove the underlying original cause of such things as irrational fears, emotional problems, relationship difficulties, psycho-sexual problems, lack of confidence, moodiness, sleeping difficulties, stuttering/stammering, anxiety inferiority complex, unhappiness, phobias, etc. and most other problems where there is a psychological factor at work.

The treatment period will normally be between six and twelve weekly sessions and will usually produce a complete and lasting release from the symptom(s). It is a totally private and individual, one-to-one form of therapy.
